一位女管家在中国传统的鬼节不小心惊醒了急于复仇的鬼魂......

艾莉萨为了逃离疯狂前男友而接下一个中国家庭的管家工作，来到偏僻乡下的她刚好遇上中国的鬼月，所有鬼魂都将在这个月当中从地狱来到人世，深信习俗的女主人警告她得遵守鬼月禁忌：不在夜间吹口哨、不要轻易回头、不打扰阴魂栖息，否则将会有不好的事情发生。
